A finely carved and hand-painted Russian triptych icon depicting Saint George mounted on horseback, triumphantly slaying the dragon - one of the most powerful and beloved images in Orthodox iconography. This heroic scene symbolizes the victory of faith over evil and has been revered for centuries as a sign of protection and courage. The central composition is framed within an elegant carved wooden structure, while the folding side panels present standing saints, completing a devotional ensemble intended for private prayer. The reverse is richly adorned with the imperial double-headed eagle, reflecting both the spiritual and historical identity of Imperial Russia. The surface reveals a beautiful, authentic passage of time - with natural darkening, areas of paint loss, and a deep aged patina that enhances its character and authenticity. Minor old retouching may be present in small areas, consistent with age, but the icon remains largely in its original condition with no major restoration.
