A powerful depiction of the Feast of the Transfiguration, showing Christ standing in radiant glory within a star-shaped mandorla, flanked by the Prophets Moses and Elijah. Below, the Apostles Peter, James, and John are shown in expressive, dynamic poses as they witness the divine revelation on Mount Tabor. The composition follows traditional Russian iconographic canon, with strong contrasts between heavenly light and the earthy red mountain forms. The aged tonality, hand-painted inscriptions, and deep patina reflect early craftsmanship and devotional character. Condition shows visible age and devotional wear, including paint losses and surface abrasions consistent with its period. The wooden panel retains its original back brace (sponka) and natural aging to the reverse.
