A richly detailed Russian festal icon presenting the sacred cycle of the Orthodox liturgical year, centered on the powerful composition of the Resurrection (Descent into Hades). Christ, surrounded by a radiant mandorla, lifts Adam and Eve from the depths, while a complete sequence of major feasts unfolds around Him — from the Nativity of the Mother of God to the Crucifixion and Dormition — each carefully arranged and inscribed in Church Slavonic. Executed in traditional tempera on wood with a finely tooled gold ground, the icon reflects the devotional artistry of late Imperial Russia. The luminous gilding, combined with strong reds and deep greens, enhances both the narrative clarity and the spiritual presence of the composition.
