A devotional Russian Orthodox icon depicting the revered Mother of God of Tikhvin, one of the most celebrated Marian images in Orthodox tradition. The composition belongs to the classical Hodegetria type, where the Virgin presents Christ as the source of salvation while the Child offers a gesture of blessing. This iconographic type became widely venerated throughout Russia and was frequently reproduced during the Imperial period for both church and household devotion. The image follows the traditional canon with balanced proportions, expressive faces, and warm earth pigments characteristic of Russian icon painting of the nineteenth century. Executed in egg tempera on wood panel, the icon retains its historical devotional presence with visible patina and natural aging consistent with antique Russian icons. The icon shows natural signs of age and devotional use including surface wear, minor abrasions, and an aged wooden panel on the reverse consistent with icons of this period. Thank you to the collector for the trust and appreciation of sacred art. “𝔒𝔩𝔡 𝔴𝔬𝔬𝔡 𝔠𝔞𝔯𝔯𝔦𝔢𝔰 𝔥𝔬𝔩𝔶 𝔰𝔱𝔬𝔯𝔦𝔢𝔰”
