A finely hand-painted Russian Orthodox icon depicting the revered Mother of God “Three-Handed” (Troeruchitsa) holding the Christ Child. This miraculous iconographic type is distinguished by the symbolic third hand, commemorating the miracle of St. John of Damascus, whose severed hand was restored through the intercession of the Virgin Mary. Since then, the Troeruchitsa has been venerated as a powerful symbol of healing, protection, and unwavering faith. Executed in the traditional Russian Orthodox manner, the icon features a luminous gold ground, rich olive-green background, and finely modeled garments with delicate highlights. The composition follows the classical Byzantine tradition, while the aged varnish, natural craquelure, and devotional wear reflect its authentic historical and liturgical use. The original wooden panel further preserves its historical integrity and character. Condition: Visible age-related wear, natural surface craquelure, minor paint abrasions, and a well-developed patina consistent with age and devotional use. Original wooden panel. Sold as is, preserving its authenticity and historical character.
