A powerful and richly symbolic depiction of St. Nicholas, shown seated upon an ornate throne in full episcopal vestments, offering a gesture of blessing while holding the Holy Gospel. Above, Christ and the Mother of God appear within the heavens, presenting the Gospel and omophorion — a sacred reference to the saint's divine authority and his enduring role as protector and intercessor within Orthodox tradition. The presence of Greek inscriptions further reflects its origin within a Greek-influenced devotional context. Executed in traditional egg tempera on a wooden panel with a gold-toned background, the icon reflects the refined devotional style of 19th-century Orthodox workshops of the Eastern Mediterranean. The throne is richly decorated with intricate ornamental detailing, while the vestments are carefully articulated with fine linear highlights and balanced color harmony. The facial features are delicately rendered, preserving a calm and contemplative spiritual presence.
