A rare and intimate folding triptych icon featuring the Mother of God with Christ Child at the center, flanked by two standing saints. Such portable devotional icons were traditionally used for private prayer and travel, serving as deeply personal objects of faith and protection. The composition reflects the traditional structure of Russian devotional triptychs, where the central sacred image is accompanied by interceding saints. Despite the heavy passage of time, the icon preserves its spiritual presence, with the side panels still showing clearer figures, while the central image carries the marks of long devotional use. Executed in tempera on wood, the icon retains its authentic aged surface and devotional character. The wear, softened details, and natural patina reflect years of use and handling, adding to its historical presence and authenticity. Condition: Strong signs of age and devotional use, including paint loss, surface wear, and fading, particularly in the central panel. The side panels have detached from the central panel over time but remain original to the piece.
