A finely painted Russian icon depicting a Deësis composition in the upper register: Christ Pantocrator seated in blessing, holding the Gospel, flanked by the Mother of God and Saint John the Forerunner in intercession. Below, three full-length saints are represented, including a central Archangel holding a staff and orb, flanked by two martyrs. The balanced composition and warm gilded background reflect traditional Russian iconographic style of the late 19th century. The figures are rendered in tempera on wood with a gold ground. The faces show delicate brushwork and proper hand-painted modeling, consistent with devotional Russian production of the period. The haloes retain good gilding, and the inscriptions are executed in traditional Church Slavonic script. Condition shows age-appropriate wear. Minor surface abrasions and edge wear are visible, with stable paint layers and no major structural splits. The back retains its original single-sponka support, consistent with 19th-century construction.
