A finely composed Russian devotional icon centered on the Crucifixion, surrounded by key sacred figures including Christ Pantocrator, the Mother of God in both Hodegetria and Eleusa types, Christ Emmanuel above, and accompanying saints below. This multi-scene arrangement reflects the theological depth and devotional purpose of 19th century Orthodox iconography, bringing together protection, intercession, and sacrifice within a single panel. Executed in traditional egg tempera on wood, the icon shows strong provincial craftsmanship, with expressive faces and balanced composition. Such composite icons were created for private prayer, offering a complete spiritual narrative in one image. The aged surface, natural patina, and visible wear further confirm its authenticity and historical presence. The icon remains in overall stable condition with visible age-related wear, surface abrasions, and darkened varnish. The back shows old woodworm activity, now inactive, which is common in icons of this period. No major repainting is observed, and the piece retains its original character.
